Hello, I'm Catherine Carter!
I’m a multidisciplinary designer and technologist studying Computer Science + Design at the University of Illinois at Chicago. My work bridges creativity and functionality; blending storytelling, visual design, and user-centered thinking to craft meaningful digital experiences. I’m passionate about designing interfaces that feel intuitive, engaging, and inclusive. Outside of design, I enjoy exploring how technology can empower communities and inspire connection.

Technical Research Assistant

Developed and implemented API Python code automating the creation of DOIs across ALCF allocation programs, facilitating long-term tracking of allocation scientific impact.
NREIP Fall Engagment Intern

Selected as one of 32 students nationwide for a competitive Department of Navy internship. Will engage virtually with Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) scientists, engineers, and mentors on research and innovation projects. Program includes 40 hours of project-based work, professional mentorship, and exposure to the training & simulation industry.
Communication Assistant - Social Media

Skills
My skills bridge design and technology, with experience in UI/UX design, web design, and front-end development. I’m proficient in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and motion-based tools for interactive visuals. On the technical side, I work with Python and C++ to prototype, analyze, and build digital experiences. My strengths lie in combining storytelling, accessibility, and functionality to create thoughtful, user-centered designs.
